Back to School

23 Aug

I had a bit of trouble falling asleep last night and staying asleep this morning. By “a bit of trouble” I mean I didn’t actually fall asleep until around 4… then I woke up at 6:30. Probably because I’m just so darn excited about classes resuming today. I decided to make a sleeve for my laptop. Using a sewing machine at 3 o’clock in the morning is a little inconsiderate to neighbors, but I find 8 a.m. sewing fairly reasonable.

Making the sleeve was SUPER easy: two pieces cut to fit my lovely MacBook, iron on facing, sew the two pieces together, sew up the sides, and use Stitch Witchery for the binding. Why use an iron-on fabric adhesive instead of sewing it on? Because I’m LAZY. I also used Stitch Witchery to attach some Velcro to the flap.

I used leftover khaki/taupe fabric from my pencil roll and and Illinois print fabric I received in the mail from my Auntie Julie. Ryan says it’s ironic. In the standard usage of the term “irony” rather than rain-on-your-wedding-day “irony”… rhetoric’d.
